Our Valentine’s Day celebration focused on helping our students recognize the importance of self-love as the foundation for building healthy and respectful relationships.
In the days leading up to February 13th, during group guidance sessions, our students learned about the history of this cultural celebration and reflected on its true meaning. In preschool, they explored how this day is celebrated in countries such as Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Australia, broadening their perspective on other cultures and understanding that love can be expressed in many different ways.
From these conversations, we went deeper into an essential question: What is self-love?
It means accepting who you are, being kind to yourself, taking care of your body and emotions, and believing that you are important and valuable.
In primary and secondary school, students painted and decorated a t-shirt in their own unique style, adding messages of self-affirmation and self-love. Through phrases, colors, and symbols, they expressed how they feel about themselves. This creative and personal activity allowed them to share their identity and strengthen positive thoughts. We also reflected on why self-love is so important: when we love ourselves, we feel more confident, treat others with kindness, learn and grow with greater assurance, and feel proud of who we are.
On Friday, February 13th, love could be felt in every corner of the school. Red and pink filled the hallways, while hearts, roses, and the joy of this cultural celebration brightened our school day. It was not a regular day of classes—it was a day to celebrate respect for ourselves and for others.
Because when we nurture self-love during childhood and adolescence, we plant seeds of confidence, empathy, and strength that last a lifetime. At our school, we believe that educating also means guiding every student to recognize themselves as valuable, capable, and deeply worthy of love.
Celebrando el Amor Propio en el Día de San Valentín
Nuestra celebración de San Valentín se centró en reconocer, entre nuestros estudiantes, la importancia del amor propio como base para construir relaciones sanas y respetuosas.
En los días previos al 13 de febrero, durante los espacios de dirección de grupo, nuestros estudiantes conocieron la historia de esta celebración cultural y reflexionaron sobre su verdadero significado. En preescolar, aprendieron cómo se vive esta fecha en países como España, Italia, Reino Unido y Australia, ampliando su mirada hacia otras culturas y comprendiendo que el amor puede expresarse de muchas maneras.
A partir de estas conversaciones, profundizamos en una idea esencial: ¿Qué es el amor propio?
Es aceptar quién eres, ser amable contigo mismo, cuidar tu cuerpo y tus emociones, y creer que eres importante y valioso.
En primaria y bachillerato, los estudiantes pintaron y decoraron a su gusto un suéter con mensajes de afirmación sobre el amor propio, plasmando frases, colores y símbolos que representaban lo que sienten por sí mismos. Fue un ejercicio creativo y personal que les permitió expresar su identidad y reforzar pensamientos positivos. Reflexionamos también sobre por qué el amor propio es tan importante: cuando nos queremos, nos sentimos más seguros, tratamos a los demás con bondad, aprendemos y crecemos con mayor confianza, y nos sentimos orgullosos de quienes somos.
El viernes 13 de febrero, el amor se sintió en cada rincón del colegio. El rojo, el rosado y el fucsia llenaron los pasillos; los corazones, las rosas y la alegría de esta festividad cultural engalanaron nuestra jornada escolar. No era un día normal de clases… era un día para celebrar el respeto por uno mismo y por los demás.
Porque cuando cultivamos el amor propio en la infancia y la adolescencia, sembramos seguridad, empatía y fortaleza para toda la vida. En nuestro colegio, creemos que educar también es acompañar a cada estudiante a reconocerse valioso, capaz y profundamente digno de amor. 💛
